Man killed on motorcycle in Simi Valley

On February 13, 2017, at approximately 9:00 pm, the Simi Valley Police Department received a call that a motorcyclist had crashed into a garage door at 4508 Apricot Road. On arrival, officers determined from the extent of the injuries that Carlos Guzman, 38 years and a resident of Simi Valley, was deceased.

The Traffic Bureau Investigative team arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. It was determined that Guzman, an inexperienced motorcyclist with no M1 (motorcycle) endorsement, was traveling at an unsafe speed in the apartment complex alley, and as a result lost control of his motorcycle causing him to crash into the side pillar of a garage door. Mr. Guzman was not wearing a helmet. He suffered immediate and significant head injuries.

The Simi Valley Police Department Traffic Bureau along with the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office will be continuing their investigation. Part of the investigation will be to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the collision.

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind the public to please wear all recommended safety gear when riding various modes of transportation.
