MEDIA RELEASE: Arrest of Familial Homicide Suspect
The Beverly Hills Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a homicide investigation.
On October 10, 2017, Beverly Hills Police and Fire responded to a medical emergency in the 600-block of N. Roxbury Drive, after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a female not breathing. Responding officers attempted life saving measures; however, the attempts were futile. The victim, Violet Yacobi, 67 years of age, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that prior to the 9-1-1 call, Violet’s adult son and daughter went to the residence to check on her after unsuccessful attempts to contact her by phone. It was at that time they discovered Violet unconscious and not breathing inside her residence.
Beverly Hills Police Detectives, the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force – Los Angeles Field Office and the Los Angeles County Coroner initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Violet’s death. During the course of their investigation, it was determined that Violet died as a result of strangulation, and her death was ruled a homicide. Through physical, digital and other evidence, Detectives developed sufficient evidence to believe Violet’s son, Daniel Yacobi, was responsible for her death. The motive is believed to be financial gain.
On February 12, 2018, Daniel Yacobi, 36 years of age of Los Angeles, was arrested for Murder, § 187(a) of the California Penal Code. Yacobi is being held without bail.
Yacobi is scheduled to appear at the Airport Courthouse for arraignment on February 14, 2018.
