Rohnert Park Garage Fire Displaces Two
On Monday February 12, 2018, at 1445 hours, the Rohnert Park Public Safety communications center received calls from residents on Francis Cir. of a fire in a townhouse. The callers could see smoke coming from the windows of the home. Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the address along with engines from Rancho Adobe Fire and Rincon Valley Fire.
Fire crews arrived within five minutes and noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the home and the garage door had started to melt. They immediately started suppression efforts and were able to keep the fire contained to the garage. The residents were not home at the time of the fire however due to this being a town house, the adjacent residence was evacuated as well.
Rancho Adobe Fire and Rincon Valley Fire assisted in the suppression efforts of the fire. The scene was under control within 15 minutes of the first arriving engines. Fire Investigators determined the fire to be accidental. It appears the fire started to the rear of the clothes dryer in the garage however it is not clear if the dryer was the sole source of the fire. The investigation was turned over to the home owner’s insurance company. The damage is estimated to be $15000. The displaced residents were offered shelter through the American Red Cross.
