Deputies respond to a hit and run collision at the intersection of Palmdale Road and Verbena

INCIDENT: HIT AND RUN WITH INJURIES
LOCATION: Intersection of Palmdale Road and Verbena, in Adelanto
SUSPECT: Joseph Jones, 26 years of age, of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, February 11, 2108, at 2:20 am, Deputy Patrick Rangel responded to the report of a hit and ran collision at the intersection of Palmdale Road and Verbena in the City of Adelanto.
When Deputy Rangel arrived, he located one vehicle at the intersection with major damage. The driver was still in his vehicle with injuries and was transported from the scene to a local hospital. A second vehicle, with damage consistent with the collision, was located north of Verbena and Palmdale road with the drivers’ side door open and the airbag inflated. The driver of the vehicle fled the location on foot.
On February 11, 2018, at 8:11 pm, Deputy Rangel contacted Joseph Jones, the registered owner of the vehicle, at his residence in the 10700 block of Almond Street in Adelanto. Jones initially tried to say the vehicle had been stolen. Through further investigation and interview by Deputy Rangel, it was determined that Joseph Jones was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Joseph Jones was arrested for hit and run with injuries and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
