Traffic Advisory: No Injuries, But Train vs. Vehicle Collision at Charleston Road Is Impacting Traffic

At about 7:22 p.m., a train struck a vehicle at the grade crossing at Charleston Road. Fortunately, the vehicle occupants were apparently able to exit the vehicle prior to the collision; no injuries have been reported.

The grade crossing is currently closed, and you should expect delays on Alma Street as a result. Please avoid the area and take alternate routes. If you'd like an update on when the grade crossing has re-opened, please follow our Twitter account at www.twitter.com/PaloAltoPolice. No Twitter account is necessary; simply go to that web page and refresh as necessary to view new content.

Please know that the collision investigation falls under the jurisdiction of the Transit Police Division of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Our involvement in such cases is limited to traffic control around the incident scene. Any further release of information about the collision itself is the responsibility of Caltrain and/or the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Thanks for your understanding.
