Date/Time:     Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:42 a.m.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Brentwood couple for violating Suffolk County code for leaving their two pit bulls chained up outside overnight.

Third Precinct officers responded to 314 Hancock St. after a representative from Almost Home Dog Rescue reported two dogs, one deceased and one underweight, were chained on five-foot long chains in the rear yard of the home. The deceased dog, Bella, approximately 3-years-old, was taken by the rescue group while the other dog, Arielle, also approximately 3-years-old, was taken by Town of Islip Animal Control.

Third Squad detectives charged Argelys Paulino, 34, and his wife, Elma Paulino, 37, who live at the Hancock Street home, with violating Chapter 299 of the Suffolk County Code pertaining to the Outdoor Restraint of Pets. Both will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on April 16.

The investigation is continuing pending further veterinarian evaluation of both dogs.
