SCAM ALERT: BAIL MONEY NEEDED

It is that time of year again, more SCAMS!! With people receiving their tax refunds, scammers are constantly attempting to steal your money.

The Grandparent Scam: People are receiving phone calls stating that their grandson or other relative is in jail and needs bail money. They ask you to buy gift cards and then give them the card information or ask for your credit card information. This is a SCAM. NO GOVERNMENT AGENCY ACCEPTS GIFT CARDS!!!!

The IRS SCAM: People are receiving phone calls stating that they owe money to the IRS and they need to send Gift Cards to pay their bill or risk the local police having a warrant for thier arrest.
FIRST OF ALL. Again NO GOVERNMENT AGENCY ACCEPTS GIFT CARDS. SECOND, the IRS does not call people, everything is done via mail. THIRD, police departments do not receive warrants for arrest to pick up people that owe the IRS money.

SUPPORT YOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT SCAM: Phone calls are being received stating that various police organizations want your support. If you would like to support your local police, fire, EMS department, please send them the money directly or better yet, take it to them.

If you are asked to send money/gift cards, please contact your local police department prior to sending anything to verify that it is not a scam. Please document the date, time, the phone number they called from, and what they stated.
