Driver, determined to be under the influence, struck and killed a 62 year old pedestrian at Palmdale Rd & Emerald Rd

VICTIM: Sandra Leon Pasillas, 62-year old Victorville resident (Deceased)
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, February 11, 2018, at approximately 8:36 pm, deputies from the Victorville Police Department and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Palmdale Road and Cobalt Road.
Upon arrival, deputies determined the collision occurred on Palmdale Road, just west of Emerald Road. Deputies determined that the suspect, Manuel Salvador Flores, was driving a blue Ford F-150 pickup truck east on Palmdale Road. A female pedestrian, later identified as Sandra Leon Pasillas, was walking east on the south paved shoulder of Palmdale Road when for an unknown reason, Manuel Flores, swerved over the white “fog line,” and struck Pasillas.
Pasillas suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by San Bernardino County Fire personnel. Flores was not injured in the collision.
Flores was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated.
The Victorville City Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is continuing the investigation of the collision. Palmdale Road, east of Cantina Drive and west of Cobalt Road, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
