...Heavy Rainfall May Cause Flooding Across Central Alabama... A prolonged period of moderate to heavy rains will continue to add up and could result in rises in rivers, creeks, and low lying areas. Localized flash flooding could occur with any training as well, but the bigger threat will be from prolonged rain. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of central Alabama, east central Alabama, northeast Alabama, northwest Alabama, southeast Alabama, and west central Alabama, including the following areas, in central Alabama, Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Jefferson, Lowndes, Montgomery, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, and Walker. In east central Alabama, Calhoun, Chambers, Clay, Cleburne, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell, and Tallapoosa. In northeast Alabama, Cherokee and Etowah. In northwest Alabama, Marion and Winston. In southeast Alabama, Barbour, Bullock, and Pike. In west central Alabama, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* Rainfall totals of two to three inches with locally higher totals are possible through Sunday afternoon.

* Rivers and creeks remain high from recent rainfall and the smaller basins will be quick to respond to high rainfall rates and associated runoff. Additionally, the ground is nearly saturated and will produce quick runoff and possible flooding in heavier rain.
