On 02/09/18 at approximately 5:15 pm West Covina Police responded to the 3700 Block of South Ferntower Avenue to investigate a brandishing a knife incident. Officers contacted a male adult victim who made allegations that his neighbor had punched him in the face, swung a knife at him and made criminal threats toward him. Officers attempted to contact the suspect in attempt to resolve the situation. The suspect was uncooperative, armed with a knife and refused to come out of his house. In order to safely resolve the matter the West Covina SWAT team responded. Just after 8:00 pm the suspect surrendered to officers without further incident.

Michael Castel, a 31 year old resident of West Covina, was arrested and booked at the West Covina jail for battery, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting and obstructing police officers.
