Union City Police seek the public's assistance with fatal collision that occurred February 3rd, 2018 on Mission Blvd.

Police seek the public’s help with Fatal Collision Investigation
 
On Saturday February 3rd, 2018 at approximately 10:38 A.M., Union City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of northbound Mission Blvd. and Lafayette Ave for a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
 
Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious elderly male who was later identified as 83 year old Jose Carmen Ceballos of Union City.  Mr. Ceballos was not moving and appeared to have sustained significant injuries.  He was transported to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
It appeared that Mr. Ceballos was crossing Mission Blvd. at Lafayette Ave. when he was struck by a large box truck.  The driver of the truck remained at the scene and has been cooperating with police throughout the investigation.  The drivers name is not being released at this time because the investigation is still on-going.
 
The collision occurred in front of the Chapel of the Chimes cemetery and near the Mexico Super grocery store.
