“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending Feb. 4, 2018
GRAND THEFTS
On Tuesday, Jan. 30th, around 1:30 p.m., Ofc. Stables was dispatched to the report of a grand theft. The victims purchased a vehicle on Craigslist for $13,000, but the vehicle registration and title documents were fraudulent.

On Friday, Feb. 2nd, around 11 a.m., someone stole auto parts from an unsecured area in the 33300 block of Croatian Way.
On Saturday, Feb. 3rd, between 6:50 p.m. and 7 p.m., someone stole a bicycle from the 1700 block of Decoto Rd.
ROBBERY
On Wednesday, Jan. 31st, around 11:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to Union Landing on the report of a robbery. A delivery driver was unloading packages from a truck when two male suspects stole several boxes. They fled in an older model, light metallic Acura four-door. The first suspect was described as a black male, about 30, 6’1” and 180 lbs. The second suspect was described as a black male, 5’9” to 5’11” with a medium build. This incident is similar to one that occurred the previous week, and is currently under investigation.
PROACTIVE ENFORCEMENT
On Wednesday, Jan. 31st, around 10:20 p.m., Ofc. Rivas conducted a traffic stop in the area of Decoto Rd. and Mission Blvd. A probation search of the vehicle yielded a large amount of methamphetamine and evidence indicative of sales. Ernie Martinez, a 46-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.
On Friday, Feb. 2nd, around 2 a.m., Ofc. Olson contacted two occupants of a suspicious vehicle near the Hayward/Union City border. A consent search of the vehicle yielded a large quantity of methamphetamine and items indicative of drug sales. Annabelle Maniago, a 46-year-old Castro Valley resident, and Irish Gaid, a 45-year-old San Leandro resident, were arrested for various drug-related offenses.
On Saturday, Feb. 3rd, around 10:45 p.m., Ofc. Olson concluded a drug sales investigation that resulted in the arrest of Eduardo Galdamez, a 22-year-old Hayward resident.
BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 29th through Sunday, Feb. 4th, there were four reported residential burglaries:
- 34300 block of Grand Canyon Rd.: Occurred on Monday, Jan. 29th, between 7:20 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. The rear sliding glass door was smashed, and the full loss is unknown at this time.
- 34600 block of Arroyo Dr.: Occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 30th, around 4:20 a.m. The garage door opener was stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway, and then used to enter the garage. The loss included firearms, tools and electronics.
- 32300 block of Crest Lane: Occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 31st, around 1 p.m. Entry was made via an unlocked bathroom window. The burglary was interrupted when the victims returned home, and the suspect was described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, about 5’10” and 130 lbs., with short black hair.
- 31100 block of Brooklyn St.: Occurred between Friday, Feb. 2nd at 1 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 3rd at 1 p.m. A rear window was smashed, and the loss included tools and appliances.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 29th through Sunday, Feb. 4th, there were no reported commercial burglaries.
AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Jan. 29th through Sunday, Feb. 4th, there were nine reported auto burglaries. Four of them occurred at the Union Landing shopping center, and four occurred in residential areas. The Union Landing burglaries involved backpacks, bags and electronics that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, Jan. 29th through Sunday, Feb. 4th, there were two reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, one of the vehicles has been recovered.
