Officers arrived in less than one minute and provided directions to the other family members in the home and were able to get them to safety. Our Crisis Intervention Trained (CIT) Officers, partnered with our Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT,) immediately established communications with the woman. Our Officers were able to successfully negotiate for the woman to exit the residence unarmed and she was safely taken into protective custody.
Preliminary investigation revealed that this dispute started earlier in the day with a verbal argument between family members that escalated to unsafe conditions for everyone involved. The woman was transported to San Mateo Medical Center PES for medical evaluation. Criminal charges are still under investigation.
