SUMMARY:
Between November 2017 and January 2018, the victim’s residence, located in the 8000 block of Joshua Street, in the unincorporated area of Apple Valley, was burglarized. Several thousand dollars’ worth of property was stolen from the residence. Deputies, from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, investigated the burglary and collected evidence at the scene.

On Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 6:33 am, two suspects forced entry into the same residence but were confronted by a neighbor who was armed with a handgun. The neighbor called 911 and then proceeded to shoot the tires on the suspect’s vehicle and the ground, keeping the suspects detained until deputies arrived. A second neighbor heard the gunshots and came to the residence armed with a shotgun but fired no rounds.

Deputies arrived on scene and arrested Justin Elder and David Turner. Both suspects were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for burglary and are being held on $75,000.00 bail.

During the investigation, deputies discovered similarities between both burglaries and through a collection of evidence, were able to tie the suspects to both burglaries. Deputies served a search warrant at the Turner’s residence located in the 22000 block of Eyota Road, in the City of Apple Valley. Deputies located and recovered about 75% of the victim’s stolen property. Deputies also found 22.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, four guns, and ammunition.

Justin Elder and David Turner were sup-booked and charged with possession of drugs for sales, possession of guns with drugs and possession of stolen property. Both suspects are being held on an additional bail of $50,000.00.

A report will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges for reckless discharge of a firearm at an uninhabited vehicle in regards to the actions of the neighbor.
