South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond J. Hayducka announced the arrest of a Kendall Park man on attempted murder charges for an incident Sunday. At 8:05am South Brunswick Police responded to a Holder Road home in the Kendall Park section of the Township for a report of an injured elderly male. Police found the victim in the residence bleeding from head wounds. Officers located the suspect, Arnab Majumdar age 44 also in the residence. The victim was taken by Kendall Park First Aid Squad to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
An investigation determined that Majumdar had punched the victim, struck him with a mason jar, hit him with a stool, and attempted to strangle the victim. He was arrested at the scene and taken to South Brunswick Police Headquarters. Municipal Court Judge Spiro Kalambakas issued a warrant charging Majumdar with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon, and terroristic threats. Majumdar was detained in the Middlesex County Correction Center pending his first appearance.
