Robert Sutton arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and criminal threats

INCIDENT: ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON/ ROBBERY/ CRIMINAL THREATS
LOCATION: US Hwy 395/ Crossroads, Adelanto
SUSPECT: Robert Sutton, 57 years old, resident of Los Angeles
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 12:02 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station received a 911 call regarding an assault on a Victor Valley Transit Bus.
The bus broke down on US HWY 395 near Cross Roads when a male subject, identified as Robert Sutton, approached the bus and started yelling at the passengers, bus driver, and mechanic who was working on repairing the bus. Sutton then entered the bus and began verbally assaulting and threating the passengers. The bus driver picked up a tire thumper and told Sutton to leave the passengers alone and to get off the bus. Sutton became more agitated and physically removed the tire thumper from the bus driver, injuring her hand and arm. Sutton ordered all the passengers off the bus, he then exited and began chasing the mechanic down the street with the tire thumper.
Robert Sutton was taken into custody without incident and booked at High Desert Detention Center. He is currently being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail. The bus driver was treated for injuries at the scene. The passengers nor the mechanic were injured.
