Novato Police and US Marshals Arrest Identity Theft Suspect

Beginning in September of 2017, several Novato residents reported being victims of Identity Theft. Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, 44 year old Kimberly Allen of Novato was identified as the suspect. The investigation revealed that Allen opened lines of credit at various businesses in Marin County using the victims’ personal identifying information and made charges in excess of $10,000. In January, Novato Police Department detectives referred the case to the Marin County District Attorney’s office for prosecution and obtained a warrant for Allen’s arrest. It was discovered that Allen is on US Federal Probation for fraud related offenses. Additionally, Allen was wanted on a Federal warrant related to a separate investigation.

On January 30th, 2018, we received information that Allen was possibly staying at a hotel in Petaluma, CA. With the assistance of the Petaluma Police Department and the US Marshals Service, NPD investigators were able to take Allen into custody on the local and federal arrest warrants. We would like to thank the US Marshals Service and the Petaluma Police Department for the assistance they provided during the investigation. The Novato Police Department encourages our community members to be proactive in checking their personal credit and bank accounts for unauthorized use.
