Vehicle strikes pedestrian in Windsor

On 01/28/2018 at approximately 1846 hrs, Windsor Police deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Windsor River Road at Starr Road for a subject that was struck by a vehicle.  When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that a 64 year old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle driven by 38 year old Windsor resident Ginger Majerus.  The pedestrian, identified as Marie Root, sustained significant injuries and was transported by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.  Majerus remained on scene and provided a statement to deputies.  It was determined that while Root was walking her dog in the crosswalk that boarders the south side of Windsor River Rd, crossing Starr Rd, she was struck by Majerus’ vehicle.  Majerus was reported to have been traveling westbound on Windsor River Rd.  Majerus stopped at the stop sign controlled intersection at Starr Rd.  Majerus then proceeded to make a left turn onto southbound Starr Rd where Root was struck.  Animal control responded to take custody of the unharmed dog.  There was no indication that Majerus was impaired at the time.  If you have any information regarding this incident please contact the Windsor Police Department at (707) 838-1234.
