Shots Fired Results in Arrest



On 01-29-2018 at 9:09 pm Officers from, The Janesville Police Department were dispatched to a shots fired complaint at 209 West ridge Rd. The reporting person told dispatch the suspect, Alan Banner shot his car.

The incident started as a domestic violence related incident. The incident escalated into the driveway where Alan Banner continued to argue with victims. He then shot the front tire of the vehicle occupied by the victims.

Banner retreated into his residence and remained there. Initial efforts to elicit a response were unsuccessful. Members of the Janesville Police Department Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) responded and made attempts to raise Mr. Banner. The Janesville Police Department S.W.A.T. Team and other department assets were activated to aid in the peaceful resolution of the incident.

Eventually additional calls into the residences elicited a response from Mr. Banner. He finally complied with Negotiator Briggs and exited the residence. At 11:10 pm patrol officers took Mr. Banner into custody without additional incident or injury. Evidence at the scene supports the report the victims provided to us in this incident.

The victims in this incident were not injured. Mr. Banner is currently being held at the Rock County Jail for charges related to the incident.
