Modesto, CA – A Modesto man has died two weeks after a vehicle assault in the Airport Neighborhood.

On January 7th officers responded to a local hospital to investigate a vehicle assault involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, officers spoke with the California Highway Patrol who initially responded, and were advised the incident took place in the 1600 block of Oregon and there were witnesses in the area.

Witnesses told officers that as the victim, 21-year-old Daniel Garcia, was walking across the street, a vehicle sped up and swerved toward Garcia, striking him. The vehicle then fled the area. Garcia was rushed to a local hospital where he was in critical condition until succumbing to his injuries.
The suspect(s) are still outstanding. The vehicle involved is described as a newer 4-door silver sedan.
