Beware of emerging Facebook Messenger and email scams. Subjects have used threats of violence for financial gain. 
There have been recent reports in Beaufort County of emerging scams through Facebook Messenger and email. The subjects engaged in these scams make threats of physical violence toward the targeted victim and their families, unless payment is made through the internet with bitcoin.
As mentioned in past advisories, there are numerous scams to watch out for. You can either report this activity to your local law enforcement agency or simply ignore the contact from scammers.
