The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
January 22nd
1017 Hours: Officer Quinonez investigated a minor hit and run accident on the 36900 block of Newark Boulevard.
1044 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated the theft of a Black 1995 Honda Civic (CA License #4LRH583) on the 6500 block of Graham Avenue.
1238 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 5600 block of Portsmouth Avenue. A 22-year-old transient male was contacted and arrested for making criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and assault with a deadly weapon and a probation violation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
1253 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes seized the license plates off a vehicle for false registration on the 35200 block of Lido Boulevard. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
1421 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a vehicle vandalism / attempted auto burglary case on the 39200 block of Cedar Boulevard. A window was smashed, but there was no loss.
2029 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated two auto burglaries in the Lido Faire Shopping Center, 35233 Newark Boulevard. The loss is laptop computers and miscellaneous electronics.
