**3rd Update**
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a three-year-old male victim.
Homicide detectives have announced that at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, the suspect, Dwayne Christopher Ward, 29 years of age, turned himself in to Homicide detectives and is now in custody. The suspect was transported to East Los Angeles Sheriff’s station. He is being held without bail.
There is no further information available at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a three-year-old male victim. The incident occurred on the 2800 block of West Alondra Boulevard in the city of Compton on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 7:44 P.M.
Homicide Investigators have been working tirelessly to identify the suspect involved in the shooting of the 3 year old child.
Investigators have identified the suspect. They are currently in communication with the family and his attorney to facilitate the surrender of the suspect.
This investigation is on going, and there is no additional information at this time.

1st Update as follows:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a three-year-old male victim. The incident occurred on the 2800 block of West Alondra Boulevard in the city of Compton on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 7:44 P.M.
Detectives have learned the incident began on the 2800 block of West Alondra Boulevard in the city of Compton, as two males began to argue in a business parking lot. During the argument, one of the people involved began to enter an awaiting vehicle driven by his girlfriend when the suspect fired gunshots at him.
The victims left the location in their vehicle and subsequently discovered the child suffered a gunshot wound.
Deputies responded to the 17200 block of south Central Avenue in the city of Carson regarding a gunshot victim, and upon their arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The deputies transported the victim to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect is described as a male, black, adult driving a dark-colored sedan. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen driving westbound from the location on Alondra Boulevard.
The incident appears to be gang-related. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.
