INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Chino Avenue at Peyton Drive, Chino Hills

SUSPECT: Talia Guadalupe Arias-Simental, 23-year-old, resident of Pomona

VICTIM: Female - Name withheld pending next of kin notification

SUMMARY:
On Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 7:18 p.m., Chino Hills Station deputies responded to the intersection of Chino Avenue and Peyton Drive, regarding a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle. Upon deputies’ arrival, they found the victim, an unresponsive unidentified female lying in the street. After the vehicle struck the victim, the driver fled the collision scene without stopping, rendering medical aid, or checking on the injured victim. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim’s information is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

During their investigation, investigators identified the driver who fled the scene as Talia Guadalupe Arias-Guadalupe. Arias' vehicle was identified as a 2002 White Pathfinder and sustained major front-end damage. Deputies arrested Arias for DUI with injuries, DUI with a Blood Alcohol over .08 and Hit and Run with injuries.

The investigation is ongoing; investigators are attempting to locate any witnesses to this collision.
