INCIDENT: Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Assault Weapon, Receiving a Large Capacity Magazine

LOCATION: 16900 block of Stoddard Wells Road

SUSPECT: Jason Rockhold, 39-year old Hesperia resident


SUMMARY: On January 18, 2018, deputies from Victorville Police Department’s Gang Team, attempted to contact Jason Rockhold at a motel in the 16900 block of Stoddard Wells Road. Rockhold, a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was believed to be in violation of his parole conditions.

Deputies located Rockhold outside of his motel room. As the deputies approached him and identified themselves as Sheriff’s Deputies, Rockhold ran into the motel room. He exited the room shortly after entering and again ran from deputies. He led them on a short foot pursuit to the front of the property, where he was detained. During a search of the motel room, deputies recovered a fully automatic assault weapon, loaded with a high capacity magazine, approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine and prescription medication not prescribed to Rockhold.

Rockhold was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance while armed and felon in possession of a firearm. After review of the case by the District Attorney’s Office, charges for possession of an assault weapon and receiving a large capacity magazine were also filed.
