On 01/17/2018 at approximately 2:30PM, John Yashu arrived to his estranged wife’s home in Pomona unannounced. They began to argue and it is alleged that Yashu took her phone by force to prevent her from calling the police. As Yashu fled he fired a gun at a vehicle belonging to a mutual friend, causing damage. Due to the aggravated nature of this domestic violence incident, the Pomona PD Detective Bureau immediately investigated the incident and developed leads to Yashu’s whereabouts.
Based on Yashu’s violent criminal history, detectives utilized the assistance of the Pomona PD/ FBI San Gabriel Valley Safe Streets Task Force to locate Yashu. On today’s date, Yashu was located in the city of Alhambra and was taken into custody without incident. We want to thank the Alhambra Police Department for their assistance in the arrest.
