On January 16, 2018, at 6:20 pm, detectives from the Fairfield Police Department's Special Operations Team were walking through the parking lot of 555 Alaska Ave when they located a group of young males in the parking lot. Upon seeing the uniformed detectives, 18-year-old Fairfield resident, Cesar Vargas, who is on probation, immediately ran from them. After a short foot pursuit, Vargas was detained and found to possess a loaded, concealed handgun in the front waistband of his pants and evidence of marijuana sales in his pockets. Vargas was booked into Solano County Jail for various weapons offenses, marijuana sales, and a probation violation.
