Winter Storm Warning until 06:00PM 
...SNOW AND BLACK ICE EXPECTED ACROSS PARTS OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA TODAY... .A strong cold front will cross the region east of the mountains this morning. A band of mainly light precipitation and quickly falling temperatures will accompany the front as it passes. Although the precipitation begin as rain in many areas, it should quickly mix with and change to snow. In addition to the snow accumulations, quickly falling temperatures will allow the snow to stick, and/or any water on untreated roads to quickly freeze, resulting in numerous travel problems this morning, including during the morning rush. The snow should end from west to east this afternoon, although cold temperatures are expected to result in only gradual improvement to road conditions. ...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected.
* WHERE...Portions of the eastern upstate of South Carolina and the Piedmont of North Carolina, including the Charlotte metro area.
