Suspect #1: Ross Campbell 31 Year Old Male from Petaluma
Incident Summary:
On January 12, 2018 at 3:00pm two drivers were stopped at a southbound red light on North McDowell Blvd at East Washington St. The two drivers were waiting for the light to turn green when the driver of a silver Toyota 4 Runner collided with the rear of white Toyota Camry which then collided with the rear of a silver Dodge Caliber sedan.
Petaluma Officers responded to the scene of the collision and contacted all drivers. There were no apparent injuries to any of the involved drivers and it was clear that the driver of the Toyota 4 Runner, 31 year old Ross Campbell had caused the collision by running into the rear of the tow other stopped vehicles. When officers first spoke with Campbell he said he had not seen the traffic was stopped due to texting on his cell phone. Officers immediately noticed as they were interviewing him that he showed signs of possibly being under the influence of alcohol.
Campbell performed field sobriety tests which he did poorly on and was arrested for DUI. Campbell performed a breath test at the police station and the result of that test showed his blood alcohol to be .33 far exceeding the legal limit of .08 BAC. Campbell was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the DUI and driving with a Blood Alcohol Level above .08 BAC.
