Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a 67-year-old Monte Rio man on suspicion of Lewd Acts with an under-age boy. The investigation began on Oct 15th, 2017 when a 14-year-old boy reported that he was the victim of Lewd Acts.
The victim reported that over a span of approximately 6 months he was seen by a Marriage Family Therapist named Jeffrey Steven Cotton who provided the victim with marijuana and ultimately sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was in fear of getting in trouble so he kept this private until now. The victim believes Cotton has possibly abused other minors due to his profession and his access to minors.
Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office’s Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit investigated the boy’s claims and they feel there is evidence to believe Cotton sexually assaulted the victim. Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Cotton at his Monte Rio home and he is being held on $30,000 bail.
