Officers Gonzales and San Luis were dispatched to an ascertain the problem call at a residence after dispatch received a call from a female who was screaming into the phone line.  Dispatchers could hear others screaming in the background.  Two officers approach the residence and look into the threshold of the front door.  The female reporting party is still holding her phone in one hand and a pile of clothing in the other hand.  The female eventually drops the clothing and is armed with a knife.  The female begins waving the knife at officers from a short distance.  Both officers step back to create distance and one officer transitions to discharge his Taser as the second provides lethal cover.  The Taser is deployed and the female dropped the knife allowing for officers to safely handcuff her.  Officers then found a female family member suffering from a non-life threatening knife wound.  She initially refused medical treatment but was convinced to be transported to a local trauma center.  The suspect was transported to a hospital for medical treatment while on a mental health evaluation hold.  Criminal charges will be sought when she is ready to be released.
