William Powell of Needles leads deputies on a pursuit riding a stolen ATV

INCIDENT: Possession of Stolen Property
LOCATION: N K Street and Needles Highway, Needles, CA.
SUSPECT(S): William Powell, 35, Needles, CA.
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Sunday, January 07, 2018, at approximately 8:27 am, Deputy Yates was on patrol in the area of Needles Highway and North K. Street when he observed a male subject riding a quad. The driver, later identified as William Powell, accelerated south on North K. Street towards Front Street. Deputy Petersen, who was on a vehicle check at Front Street and South K. Street went to assist Deputy Yates. Powell tried to elude Deputy Petersen by driving west along the rail road tracks, where he became stuck. After a short foot pursuit, Powell was taken into custody without incident. The quad Powell was driving had been report stolen out of Victorville. Powell was also found in possession of a controlled substance. Powell was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Powell is being held on $50,000 bail, pending a court hearing.
