On January 6th at 3:20 pm the Fairfield Police Department began receiving multiple phone calls regarding a three car collision that had occured in the area of Waterman Bl and Hilborn Rd. As officers arrived on scene they located one victim suffering from apparent gun shot wounds and several others injured as a result of the collision. The male suffering from gun shot wounds was transported to a local trauma center with life threatening injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
From the initial investigation it appears that two vehicles were travelling on Waterman Bl when the occupants of one vehicle began firing at a silver Honda Accord, striking the driver multiple times. The driver of the Honda lost control of his vehicle causing a multiple vehicle collision. This is an active investigation and we are asking that anyone who saw the initial shooting incident or subsequent collision contact the Fairfield Police Department's Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600. More information will be released as it becomes available. For now the freeway exits from I-80 onto Airbase Pkwy and Waterman Bl are closed in both directions. We are asking motorists to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
