Marietta Police Arrest Local Man for Threatening to Shoot Up a Church and Kill Many of the Members Inside.
On January 3, 2018 the Marietta Police Department received a report from Pastor Temitosan Abimbola, a local pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Heaven’s Gate. Pastor Abimbola stated that a member of her church, Ken Ogbemudia, threatened to shoot up her church and kill many of the members inside. Ogbemudia allegedly texted the threatening message to several members of the church. In addition, the pastor reported that she spoke with Ms. Karen James, a female associate of Ogbemudia’s. Abimbola stated that James told her she recently purchased two AK-47 rifles and 600 rounds of ammunition for Ogbemudia. Ogbemudia was subsequently admitted to Kennestone Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
As a result of follow up investigation, on January 4, Ogbemudia was charged with: Terroristic Threats (F) and will be held without bond once released from the hospital.
We appreciate the assistance with have received from the Kennesaw Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms who have worked with us in this ongoing investigation. At this time, no weapons have been located and we are unable to confirm if any were ever actually purchased. The investigation is ongoing, and James is cooperating with authorities.
In addition, the investigation revealed questions regarding Ogbemudia’s immigration status. Ogbemudia arrived in the United States from Nigeria in 2011 and has told authorities he is here illegally. ICE has been notified and an investigation into his immigration status has begun.
