...DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST THIS MORNING... The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM PST this morning.
* VISIBILITIES...One quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog. Some denser patches of fog may reduce visibility to as low as a few hundred feet.
* LOCATIONS...Fog is particularly dense near rivers, including the Willamette, Lower Columbia, Cowlitz, Tualatin, and Nehalem Rivers. Therefore Downtown Portland and Vancouver, Kelso and Longview, Tualatin and Vernonia can expect periods of dense fog through Sunday morning.
* TIMING...Tonight and early Sunday morning.
* TEMPERATURES...Falling to near or just below freezing.
* IMPACTS...Ground moisture and falling temperatures could lead to icy and slick roadways, compounding any issues created by the low visibility. It will be difficult to see other vehicles and pedestrians, so use caution and slow down.
* AFFECTED AREAS: COAST RANGE OF NORTHWEST OREGON ... GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA ... LOWER COLUMBIA
Instructions:
A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
