Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle in Chula Vista

On 12/29/17, at approximately 6:07 PM, the Chula Vista Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a traffic accident involving a pedestrian on “F” Street (600 Block). Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an adult female pedestrian had been struck by a single vehicle traveling westbound on “F” Street. The driver of the vehicle stopped as the pedestrian remained trapped underneath the vehicle.

The pedestrian was unresponsive and unconscious at the scene. She was transported to UCSD where she would succumb to her injuries.

Video surveillance and several witnesses at the scene saw the pedestrian walking across the street northbound, not in a crosswalk. The pedestrian stumbled and fell in the #1 westbound lane. Several seconds later she was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be conducting the investigation.
