Riverdale Police Department Captures Suspect Who Committed 2 Armed Robberies And 1 Carjacking The Same Night. 
On December 28, 2017, City of Riverdale Police Investigators apprehended and arrested 17 year old Michael Weems for Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Assault and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property Vehicle.
City of Riverdale Police Officers and Investigators responded to two Armed Robberies - 6598 Hwy 85 (Mattresses For Sale) and 6622 Hwy 85 (Angie’s Beauty Supply) the evening prior, December 27, 2017. Officers were advised by witnesses that 2 suspects entered the location. The suspect’s faces were covered, they discharged a weapon into the air, demanded money and fled the scene in a vehicle. Witnesses obtained the tag number and releayed it to the Officers. The tag returned to a vehicle that was recently reported stolen from Clayton County Police Department, by way of Hijacking, from the Brookview subdivision moments before this robbery. The suspects matching the description then proceeded to Mattresses for Sale where they robbed this location using the same method of operation.
During the investigation, Investigators obtained information that lead to the address where the vehicle was located. Investigators traveled to the location and observed the vehicle backed into a parking space. With the assistance of the Clayton County Police Department surveillance was conducted and Michael Weems was observed getting into the vehicle. WEEMS was wearing the same clothes observed in the video from Angie’s Beauty Supply. A traffic stop was conducted and WEEMS was taken into custody after a short foot chase. Inside WEEMS’ pocket was white gloves as shown in the video from Angie’s Beauty Supply.
Warrants were obtained, WEEMS was taken into custody and turned over to the jail at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
