Warming Centers updated in advance of arctic blast

UPDATED - Warming Centers Available in Madison County

The Madison County Emergency Management Agency and Department of Homeland Security, working in conjunction with COAD (County Organizations Active in a Disaster), have activated WARMING Centers in strategic locations with Madison County.  A WARMING center is a drop-in area for residents to visit during cold temperatures to find temporary heat.  These locations are not shelters; they do not provide bedding, nor food and beverages they will provide seating only.  If you chose to go to a warming center, be sure to bring your medication as well as materials to keep children entertained and help pass the time.

Temperatures this weekend thru next week are forecast to have highs in the single digits and lows -3 to -10 degrees.  Prolonged cold conditions pose a risk to individuals with poor heat or no heat in their homes.  As a result of the dangerously cold temperatures, Madison County is opening Warming Centers to provide temporary relief from the cold temperatures.

These warming centers are operated by our private sector partners and are not affiliated with the Madison County Emergency Management & Department of Homeland Security, nor the United Way of Madison County.
