***************CASE UPDATE****************CASE UPDATE*******************

Since 12-6-17, our office has continued to investigate this homicide.  This investigation has been led by Detective Sergeant Keylon and has produced additional evidence against Mr. Sang JI and Ms. Jung CHOI.

Investigative leads led to yesterday's recovery of a female decedent believed to be Yoon JI.  The decedent was located in a ravine off of Salinas Grade Road in rural San Benito County. The Sheriff's Office would like to thank those in our community who have offered assistance in searching for Yoon Ji.  An autopsy will be performed tomorrow in Santa Clara where the identity of the decedent will be confirmed.  Mrs. Ji’s family members are aware of the developments.

Mrs. Yoon JI was originally reported missing on Saturday December 2, 2017. Her husband Sang JI and his associate Jung CHOI were arrested for her murder on December 6, 2017.  They remain in custody, each on $2,010,000 bail.

The sheriff's office is grateful for the assistance they received from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Evidence Response Team and the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue Human Remains Detection dogs along with their handlers.  The Hollister Fire Department also responded to assist in lighting the site where the decedent was recovered.  Last, members of the San Benito County Search and Rescue Team responded to aid in the recovery of the decedent.  Their expertise in safely traversing rugged terrain was instrumental in the safe and dignified recovery of the decedent.
