Drunk driver gets vehicle stuck on railroad tracks, endangering the life of her 6 yr old daughter & 1 other passenger

LOCATION: East Bound BNSF Railroad Tracks between Ice Plant Rd and Five Mile Rd, Needles, California
SUSPECT: Darby Chaney, 43 years old, resident of Needles
SUMMARY:
On December 18, 2017 at approximately 5:20 pm, deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police were dispatched to a welfare check of a vehicle that was stuck on the east bound BNSF railroad tracks. Deputies arrived on scene and found a vehicle high centered on the tracks. Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle, Darby Chaney, who displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. There were two other passengers in the vehicle, including Chaney's six year old daughter. A train travelling west bound, on a separate set of tracks, passed the disabled vehicle while everyone was in the car. BNSF staff had to shut down all tracks to ensure the safety of eveyone on scene.
Darby Chaney was arrested for child endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Chaney is being held on $100,000 to appear in the Victorville Superior Court. The child was released into the custody of Children's Family Services.
