NWS UPDATE...Winter Storm Warning 11am today to 5pm Wednesday...Far NW, NW Highlands, San Juan, Jemez, SW Mountains

As of 930 am MST, the center of the storm system was located over Oregon. Model guidance is in excellent agreement that the storm system will move rapidly south across Nevada this afternoon, Arizona tonight and across central New Mexico on Wednesday. The track of the storm will place much of western, central and northern New Mexico within a favorable pattern to produce significant high terrain snowfall.

Below are a list of warnings and advisories as of 5 am MST today (12/22).


Winter Storm Warning in effect from 11 am MST this morning to 5 pm MST Wednesday for:

San Juan, Jemez and Southwest Mountains
Far Northwest and Northwest Highlands

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 11 am MST this morning to 5 pm MST Wednesday for:

Chuska Mountains
West Central Mountains
West Central Plateau
Northwest Plateau
West Central Highlands
San Francisco River Valley

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 6 pm MST this evening to 5 am MST Thursday for:

Sangre De Cristo Mountains
Upper Rio Grande Valley
Lower Chama River Valley

*** Important notes ***

*** Snow is expected within the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metro areas late tonight and early Wednesday. While there are currently no advisories in place, a light accumulation of 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible***

***Additional Hazards may be required by later today or tonight, especially further east
across the Northeast Highlands and Northeast Plains.***
