Deps arrest the mother of a 6 year old child after finding she had high centered her vehicle on the railroad tracks

LOCATION: East Bound Train Tracks between Ice Plant Rd and 5 Mile Rd, Needles, California
SUSPECT: Darby Chaney, age 43 of Needles
SUMMARY:
On December 18, 2017, at approximately 5:20 pm, deputies of the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department were dispatched to a welfare check reference a vehicle that was stuck on the east bound set of the railroad tracks. Deputies arrived on scene and found a vehicle high centered on the tracks. Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle, Darby Chaney. Chaney immediately displayed signs and symptoms consistent with being under the influence of alcohol. There were two other passengers in the vehicle, including Chaney's six year old daughter. A train traveling west bound on a separate set of train tracks, passed the disabled vehicle while everyone was in the car. BNSF staff had to shut down all lanes of travel to ensure the safety of everyone on scene.
Chaney was arrested for Child Endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Chaney is being held on $100,000 to appear in the Victorville Superior Court. The child was released into the custody of Children and Family Services.
