Advisory

Distribution of N-95 particulate masks today, Saturday, December 16, 2017 for Simi Valley Residents

The City of Simi Valley-Office of Emergency Services has received another limited supply of N-95 particulate masks and will be distributing the masks at the Simi Valley City Hall parking lot today, Saturday, December 16, 2017 between 12:30 P.M. and 2:30 P.M. This distribution effort is intended to provide Simi Valley children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, COPD, emphysema and heart disease, a mask to help protect them from inhalation of smoke particles in the air caused by area fires.

Although the Thomas fire is not a threat to Simi Valley, smoke is expected be an issue off and on whenever onshore winds and weather conditions cause smoke from the fire to drift into Simi Valley. This will be an ongoing issue until the fires are out.

A limited supply of N-95 masks is being provided by Ventura County Public Health Department. If you or a family member needs a mask, please stop by the location between 12:30 P.M. and 2:30 P.M. today. Masks will be available only while supplies last.

N-95 Mask distribution location today:
• Midtown - Simi Valley City Hall parking lot 2929 Tapo Canyon Road (enter via the signal on Tapo Canyon Road, across from Kohl’s Department store)
