#LASD * UPDATE* Homicide Bureau Investigators responding to assist West Covina PD with Officer Involved Shooting.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing to assist West Covina Police Department personnel investigate the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting that occurred near the intersection of South Glendora Avenue and East Cameron Avenue in the City of West Covina, on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:40 P.M.
 
Detectives have learned that West Covina Police Department personnel were responding to the 1400 block of West Delhaven Avenue regarding an attempt residential burglary call.  The informant told West Covina Police Department that the three male suspects were driving a white minivan.  While West Covina Police Department officers were responding to the location, they saw a vehicle matching the suspects’ vehicle description and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. 
 
During the traffic stop the vehicle drove away and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.    
 
During the vehicle pursuit two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and the third suspect continued to drive away.  The suspect vehicle later stopped and an officer attempted to contact the driver of the suspect vehicle.  When the officer attempted to make contact with the occupant of the suspect vehicle, an officer-involved shooting occurred.  After the officer-involved shooting, the vehicle continued to drive south bound on South Glendora Avenue and came to a stop in the intersection of South Glendora Avenue and East Cameron Avenue. 
 
The suspect was struck by gunfire at least one time in his upper torso.  The suspect was transported to a local hospital; his condition is unknown at this time.
 
The two suspects who jumped out of the suspect’s vehicle were apprehended.  
 
No officers were injured during the incident.  The suspect's vehicle and scene are currently being processed at this time.  
 
The investigation is on-going and there is no additional information available.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to the intersection at Glendora Avenue and Cameron Avenue, West Covina, to assist West Covina Police Department investigate the circumstances surrounding an Officer-Involved shooting.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time. 

No officers were injured.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
