On Wednesday, December 13, 2017 Investigators from the High Desert Regional Gang Team were conducting surveillance at a suspected gang member’s residence in the 13000 block of Bluegrass Place in the city of Victorville, preparing to serve a search warrant. A vehicle left the location and appeared to be driven by another suspected gang member and a traffic stop was attempted. The driver failed to yield and led deputies on a two- mile pursuit, driving at high rates of speed until the driver stopped at a residence in the 12000 block of Landmark St. in the city of Victorville. The driver fled on foot and was taken into custody in the back yard of the residence without further incident. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Bernard Gomez, a documented gang member from the Azusa area. Gomez was found to have a Federal no bail arrest warrant and was also found to have a passenger in the back seat, his girlfriend’s 8-month-old child. Investigators also located narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Investigators served the search warrant in the 13000 block of Bluegrass Place where they located several ounces of methamphetamine, along with evidence of methamphetamine for sales. The resident, 44-year-old Arthur Martinez, was also found to be a documented gang member from the Azusa area.

Both subjects were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
Bernard Gomez was booked for Child Endangerment, Sales of Methamphetamine, Evading, Participating in a Criminal Street Gang and a no bail Federal warrant.
Arthur Martinez was booked for Sales of Methamphetamine, Participating in a Criminal Street Gang and Accessory to a crime.
