On Thursday, December 14, 2017, at approximately 11:00 am, Palmdale Sheriff Station’s Partners Against Crime (PAC) team conducted an Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) minor decoy operation in the city of Palmdale.
The purpose of the operation is to ensure businesses are not selling to underage customers. Under the direct supervision of deputies, minor decoys entered fourteen separate businesses licensed to sell alcohol and attempted to purchase alcohol.
Three businesses including: Superior Grocers, located at 38360 20th St E; CVS, located at 38012 47th St E; and Liquor King, located at 5564 Fort Tejon Rd., sold to a minor and were cited at the time of the incident.
In 1994, the California Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the use of underage decoys is a valid tool of law enforcement to ensure that licensees are complying with the law. These types of operations have shown a decrease in alcohol related incidents.
