Fairfield Man Arrested for Felony Evading, Hit and Run, after Air Base Parkway Collision

Fairfield Police arrested 18 year old Fairfield resident Emari Prescott Thursday morning following a brief pursuit and collision that caused a hazardous materials spill.

The incident started just before 8am when an officer saw Prescott speeding in the area of Air Base Parkway and Walters Road.  Prescott continued driving west on Airbase Parkway and then collided into another vehicle near Clay Bank Road.  Prescott got out of his vehicle and took off running into an adjacent neighborhood.

The officer stayed to check on the driver of the second vehicle and broadcast a description of the suspect over the police radio.  Additional officers located the suspect, who continued to flee on foot.  The suspect was caught and arrested in near the intersection of Meadowlark Drive and Dover Avenue.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.  He was carrying pool cleaning chemicals, which spilled during the collision.  Fairfield Firefighters responded to the scene and determined the chemical spill to be hazardous, and the Solano County Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to the scene to clean up the chemicals.

Due to the chemical spill and potential danger, Air Base Parkway was closed in both directions between Dover Avenue and Clay Bank Road.  Approximately ten homes south of Air Base Parkway were evacuated as a precaution.

The materials were cleaned up and Air Base Parkway was reopened at approximately 12:40 PM.  Prescott was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of Felony Evading, Felony Hit and Run, and Resisting Arrest.

Air Base Parkway is closed between Dover Avenue and Clay Bank Road, and is expected to be closed for the next several hours due to a Hazardous Materials spill.

The spill is due to a collision in which was caused by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop.  The suspect vehicle collided into another vehicle carrying pool cleaning supplies.  The suspect fled on foot but was subsequently arrested in the area of Meadowlark and Dover.  There are no outstanding suspects.

Nobody was injured in the collision.

The Solano County Hazardous Materials Team is responding to address the spilled pool chemicals.  Approximately 8 homes that back up to the area of the spill have been evacuated by Fairfield Police Officers.  Those homes are on Bobwhite Court, Tern Court, and Gull Court.  There is no danger to the public outside of the small evacuation area.

Detours are available, but expect major traffic delays on Air Base Parkway for the next several hours.

Updated information, including suspect identification and charges, will be provided when it is available.
