Fraud report leads to gun arrest
Fairfield Police arrested a 26 year old San Jose man Tuesday morning for several firearms and stolen property charges. The incident began at approximately 10 am Tuesday morning when officers were called to a business in the 2700 Block of North Texas Street for a person possibly trying to use a stolen credit card. The person was gone when officers arrived, but clerks were able to give a good description of the suspect, his clothing, and his vehicle.
Approximately 30 minutes after taking the fraud report, an officer saw the suspect at a different business in the 1000 Block of Oliver Road. The officer stopped the suspect, 26 year old San Jose resident Brandon Nichols. Nichols had a warrant out of Solano County for larceny and was on active Santa Clara County Probation for burglary. Nichols was also in possession of a loaded, stolen, .38 caliber revolver, and a key to a local motel where he had been staying.
Officers went to Nichols’ motel room and conducted a search pursuant to his probation terms. They located several suspected stolen checks, cell phones, electronic equipment, and a second handgun. Nichols was booked into Solano County Jail for several felony charges related to the guns and stolen property, and the outstanding warrant.
