The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

December 11

0842 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated the attempted theft of copper pipe at Kennedy Elementary School. Copper on roof was cut and prepped to remove, but left behind.

0943 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated the theft of a vehicle dolly trailer (CA License # 4PN2325) from Brandon Automotive, 37444 Sycamore Street.

0956 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated an auto burglary at 85 Degree Bakery, 35201 Newark Boulevard.

1013 Hours: Officers conducted a probation search on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. A 35-year-old Newark female was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 44-year-old Newark male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

1017 Hours: Officers conducted a probation search on the 37200 block of Walnut Street. A 38- year-old Hayward male was arrested for his outstanding warrants and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1115 Hours: Officer Musantry contacted and arrested a 24-year-old Fremont male for his outstanding warrants on the 37100 block of Spruce Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1249 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated a multi vehicle auto accident at NewPark Mall. A driver inadvertently hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed into several parked cars. The driver was treated at the scene for his injuries.

1320 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary at BJ’s Restaurant, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a backpack and laptop computer.

1352 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated an auto accident on Ring Road where the driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit a light pole.

1440 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 35700 block of Dalewood Drive. A 39-year-old transient female was arrested on her outstanding warrant and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1553 Hours: Sergeant Todd investigated the theft of wheels off of a vehicle parked on Timber Street.

1725 Hours: Officer Geser investigated a package theft on the 5400 block of Port Sailwood Drive.

1931 Hours: Officer Geser investigated an auto burglary on the 6100 block of Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a gym bag.

1942 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated an auto burglary at 85 Bakery, 35201 Newark Boulevard. The loss is a backpack, handbag and a laptop computer.

0058 Hours: Officer D. Johnson and Field Training Officer Norvell were dispatched to the area of 5800 Jarvis Avenue for a possible DUI driver. The Officers contacted and arrested a 40-year-old Fremont male for driving under the influence and possession of Methamphetamine. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
