Sheriff Victor Hill’s New K-9 “Deputy Coudy” Tracks Down Car-Burglary Thief On His First Day Out!
Sheriff Victor Hill recently authorized the purchase and training of 4 new canines highly trained in the art of tracking intensifying his “war on crime crusade” to apprehend and run more criminals out of Clayton County. Yesterday, the new canines hit the streets of Clayton County for the very first time.
Yesterday around 12 noon, the Clayton County Police Department responded to an entering-auto in progress call. Upon arrival they apprehended a 14 year old juvenile who was in possession of a stolen firearm. The Sheriff’s Office stopped a another suspect who fit the description of a 2nd suspect involved in the vehicle break in. This suspect, later identified as Jamal Snelson, decided he did not want to talk and took off running instead.
Sheriff’s Deputies set up a perimeter and waited for the arrival of one of Sheriff Victor Hill’s newest four legged crime fighters (Deputy Coudy) to arrive who immediately picked up on the scent of Snelson. Coudy tracked Snelson to a back yard with a fence. When Deputy Griffin helped Coudy over the fence, Coudy keep tracking Snelson’s scent to a large trash can where he stopped and began to bark. When the trash can toppled over, Snelson came rolling out and surrendered to Sheriff’s Deputies. Snelson who was also wanted out of Fulton County on drug related and assault charges is now facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail. He is now the poster child for K-9 Coudy’s first arrest on his first day on the job!
Congratulations to Deputy Steve Brown with K-9 Pipo, Deputy Michael Kearns with K-9 Tir, Deputy Tony Griffin with K-9 Coudy, and Officer Demetrius Johnson with K-9 Aries who all graduated from K-9 training and completed their K-9 certifications. These Deputies and canines will make up another elite team of crime fighters who will intensify Sheriff Victor Hill’s “war on crime crusade”.
Let this serve as a public service announcement to all criminals that if they run and hide like cowards after victimizing hard working innocent citizens, they may have the honor of meeting one of the Sheriff’s new four legged crime fighters.
